Martin Carver Martin Carver

 

Professor emeritus at the University of York (England), where he was head of archaeology 1986–1996. He has directed archaeological research projects in France, Italy, Algeria, England and Scotland. These included excavations at the seventh century royal burial ground at Sutton Hoo, 1983–2005 and the Pictish monastery at Portmahomack, 1994–2007. In addition to reports on these sites, he is the author of “Archaeological Investigation” (2009) and was editor of “Antiquity” from 2002 to 2012.
