Abstract: Early in 1363, the Moscow troops captured Vladimir, the residence of Great Prince. Prior to his death, Dmitrii Ivanovich of Moscow in his will (1389) bequeathed Vladimir and its land to his elder son Vasilii. In the case of Vasilii’s death, Moscow and Vladimir had to be inherited by the eldest of his brother. Thus, the most powerful of the Moscow princes had to control Vladimir as well. A.E. Presnyakov believed that, after Dmitrii’s death, the relations between Vasilii and Yurii, the second eldest brother, started getting worth. This is not corroborated by sources: until the death of Vasilii in 1425, Yurii always followed and supported him. However, after 1425, the rivalrt between Yurii and Vasilii I’ son, Vasilii II, started and lasted several years. Yurii finally became great prince of Moscow but soon died, on the 5^th June, 1434.
